Overview
Gain an understanding of the fundamentals of fiber optics technology, fiber-cleaning techniques, optical-networking system safety, DWDM fundamentals, and fiber testing and equipment. This course also offers an introduction to the Cisco Optical Networking System 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform and the Cisco Network Convergence System 2000 Series.
The Cisco® Fundamentals of Fiber Optics Technology (FFOT) Release 1.0 Version 1 introduces you to the fundamentals of fiber optics technology. Through a combination of lecture and hands-on-labs, you will learn fiber-cleaning techniques, optical networking system safety, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) fundamentals, and fiber testing and equipment.
In addition, this course covers the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP/NCS shelf layout and components, as well as, the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP/NCS product fundamentals. You will learn the three MSTP shelf types (M12, M6, and M2) and the two NCS shelf types (NCS 2006, NCS 2002).
You will also learn how to utilize the Cisco ONS 15454 documentation and the Cisco Transport Controller (CTC). The course also covers an instructor lead CTC lab demonstration, whereby the instructor will guide you through an introduction to the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP from Installation to Protection lab. The CTC lab is a brief introduction to your next course, if you desire the skills necessary to deploy a Cisco Optical Networking System (ONS) 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) network from installation to protection (FITP).In addition, this course covers the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP/NCS shelf layout and components, as well as, the Cisco ONS 15454 MSTP/NCS product fundamentals.
