Course Details
Overview
This lab-intensive course introduces you to the Cisco® Optical Network System (ONS) Family of time-division multiplexing (TDM) transport products. The Cisco ONS 15454 Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP) and ONS 15310-MA SDH Multiservice Platform (MSP) are SDH transport system components that can be mixed and matched to create high-speed optical transport networks. Topics include the SDH optical hierarchy STM-1 (155 Mbps), STM-4 (644 Mbps), STM-16 (2.5 Gbps), and STM-64 (10 Gbps). Instruction also includes how E-1 (2 Mbps) and E3 (35 Mbps) electrical signals are carried in the SDH optical links, and how to configure and build circuits through the Cisco Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM) 10-Gbps card, a TDM card in the Cisco ONS 15454 SDH dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) solution. The course also describes electrical, Ethernet, and optical protection options; linear and ring topologies; circuit building; and troubleshooting. Three Cisco ONS 15454 SDH nodes and three Cisco ONS 15310 SDH nodes are available for the labs.
